Just a few weeks ago I blogged about my love for baking and passing it down to my kids. I spoke of my grandmothers who shared their gifts in this area with me growing up and just how much it impacted me. Yesterday one of these wonderful ladies passed on from this earth and joined her son, daughter, and many others in heaven. I have no doubt she is happy and painless and feeling God's love as He embraced her as she went home. My grandma was a lovely lady. She was traditional, classy, giving, compassionate, patient, forgiving, kind, helpful, and wise. She lived a remarkable life and raised a bunch of great kids. She always had a cookie or home baked cinnamon roll or hot bread with her jam or a piece of pie or a cup pf coffee for you when you visited. She always had room at her table for "just one more" and could feed a few or a houseful if needed. She could whip up the best home made waffles, eggs, and bacon for you when you stayed over night or just showed up in the morning. When we were little she would go out to the garden with us and pick beans, raspberries, and tomatoes. When I slept at her house I always could smell the hydrangea tree just below my bedroom window or the old perfume smell that lingered in my aunt's old room. She gave to many...and served in many areas. She wrote letters back and forth with me after I went to college and always reminded me to be good and enjoy whichever season of life I was in. She loved the Lord and read her Bible as much as she baked goodies from her old farmhouse kitchen. She was a great grandma and I will miss her. What a gift to have spent the time I had with her and I will no doubt pass on a handful of things she showed me as I grew up just down the lane from her on the old family farm. Grandparents are such a gift!

What a beautiful lady. She taught you well and you already exhibit many of her characteristics. "A time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance." You'll go through all of those emotions, sometimes at the same time as you process her loss. God be with you and give you and your family shalom. Love you.
